Weight Loss Journey Quilt Project – Block #4 – “Points!”

Hi Friends!

It’s time for another installment of my Weight Loss Journey Quilt project!  Today is weigh in day and I’m still losing!!! I’m actually quite stunned this whole point counting thing works!  Really, I’m just at a loss for words….

So since this whole point counting is my inspiration I’ve interpreted that routine in this next block…called appropriately…”Points!”…DSCF3805

Block Name: Points, Original Design
Finished Size: 6″
Difficulty Rating: Medium
Number of Pieces: 15
Method of Construction: Paper Piecing
Weight Loss Progress: -9

This block was fairly easy to put together but I’m giving it a “Medium” difficulty rating because you need to know how to paper piece in order to follow along.

First I printed out a base block pattern on regular computer paper (not the best choice of paper but it worked, something lighter would work much better but that is what I had on hand).DSCF3800

Then I drew in my design with pencil.

I worked left to right starting with some white muslin and working my points across the entire field…DSCF3802

Sewing, then pressing, trimming, then sewing again until the entire block was covered.  I trimmed to size and removed the paper.

Happy Sewing….

  1. I just had an inspiration this morning perusing the Sunday paper! An article on quilted place mats. How fun that would be and what a pretty reminder to keep your focus on the joy of eating healthy. How could one forget all you are learning if you use your placemats every day. Hmmm, maybe even I could finish a placemat or two! and get with my program that resumes in Feb. (After our cruise, I can’t come to grips with eating a medifast bar instead of breakfast!)

    1. That’s a great idea! I guess as long as they are made nicely and look good. Maybe I should take some ‘Before’ shots of myself to use as my reminder!!! LOL!
