Hi Friends!
I had a few moments this afternoon to take some pictures of me in a couple garments I’ve made recently. I actually wore these two together for work today and I thought to myself there’s no better time to get these pictures done than right now!
You’ve already seen the top, McCalls 6604 from previous posts (and my sleeve tutorial) but the Jeans are a new one. These Jeans are Butterick 5682, a pattern that came out last year, to which I finally had a chance to give it a try!
First up is the top Front : And then the Back View:
I really like how the top came out, this is after I’ve worn and washed it probably 6 times already and it still looks pretty good!
The Jeans however…they tended to GROW a little today and are practically falling off of me in these pictures. I made these over the weekend and they sewed up very quickly. I made a straight size 22 right out of the envelope with no alterations. I like to do that just to get an idea of how the pattern was intended to fit and then in a later edition I can make any necessary alteration.
They were a little bit more snug on me this morning so I suspect after a few washings in hot water they will shrink up a bit, but so far so good!
The Back View: Once again…fairly baggy after a days wear.
All in all I was rather impressed with the fit right out of the envelope. There are some minor tweaks that I’d like to do on the next pair, such as lengthening the zipper fly and giving myself some deeper pockets but if you ever wanted to give jeans a try this pattern would definitely be one I’d recommend.
I’ll be putting together a more detailed review over at patternreview.com if you are interested so in the mean time…
Happy Sewing! Yippeeeee!!!! As always…more later…
