The Very Strange Case of the Dear Jane Book

What has happened to the Dear Jane book by Brenda Papadakis?

Type into Amazon to search for this book and you’ll see it for $52.16 all the way to over $3,000 dollars!  What in the world is going on?  See screen shot below…

Now.  Friends.  This is utterly ridiculous.  I have this book in inventory…well until I didn’t have this book in inventory because I sold my last copy but the suggested retail is $24.99.  So as a good shop owner I went to my distributor and found out they no longer have this book offered!  What?!?

Shocking, but maybe it’s possible that we have to wait for another edition or print run.  Fine.  So just out of curiosity I went out to the interwebs to see if anyone had this book available and of course our friends/not friends at Amazon have listings that range wildly in price.

Someday I will tell you my experience with Arbitrage orders sold on Amazon and sourced at other marketplaces (like mine on Etsy) but today let’s just all collectively look for this book and see what we can come up with okay?  This is like a treasure hunt.  Who can find the most ridiculous price.  This is no doubt Arbitrage gone whacko.

I have a love affair with this quilt but I’m probably the only quilter on the planet that has not even attempted it.  My love affair is finding them at quilt shows and collecting the photos.  Every time I see one I tell myself there’s probably no way I’d ever finish one…maybe someday.

Now, if you happen to be an insider and can tell me when this book will be available to re-order I’d love to hear.  I’d like to get this back in the shop!

Happy Sewing, Happy Quilting!

  1. I am certainly glad I already have the book – somewhere. I also doubt I will ever make the quilt – too fiddly. I wanted to look at that gorgeous weight loss journey quilt but the link seems to be broken. I also love the beautiful purple and green quilt in your blog header – two of my favorite colors.

    1. I think I did take down most of the weight loss journey quilt. I had lost weight during it but then what do you know, 4 years later I have failed yet again. I should probably get back to it and start again for a nother round. It really did help!
