I woke up early to watch the ship come into port. It was twilight, the sun brimming just over the horizon and the moon still shining bright upon the water when the faint shadow of mountains could be seen…
We would be there soon. Jim and I decided to stroll the ship in search of some coffee. In a section of the boat called Central Park is a café where you can get a bite to eat, a coffee or tea…
Bird chirps are piped in. You’d almost be convinced of being in a ‘real’ garden! the plants are all real but they are potted and receive prodigious amounts of care and are swapped out if any go week or limp.
Back to the balcony we could see the dock. Getting closer!
Labadee, Haiti is a peninsula off the Northern coast of Haiti. It is entirely owned and operated by Royal Caribbean and the only sense you have you are in Haiti is looking into the eyes of the employees that work there and the products for sale in the marketplace…
A tractor pulls a tram to and from the stops within the compound. The area is an extension of the boat, another playground and another chance to spend money, eat, drink, play, swim or just hang out in the sun…
Employees scurry about behind the scenes to bring us lunch…
During the day we played with an underwater camera…
More to come!
