It happened yesterday. He's worn me down to the point of breakup. And he knew it. I left MTD in the kitchen yesterday while we were at work and I came home to a scene from a really bad "pet hoarder" documentary. I put down towels in case he couldn't 'hold it' but it was… Continue reading He’s broken me.
Carolina Christmas Mystery Quilt – 9 more Poinsettia Blocks 22 to go!
We are in the homestretch on these Poinsettia blocks. I've completed 9 more, which leaves just 22 left. That is more than half way. I'm going to divide and conquer the last 22. The batch will be split into 2 groups of 11 each and we are just going to zoom zoom zoom on through… Continue reading Carolina Christmas Mystery Quilt – 9 more Poinsettia Blocks 22 to go!
Carolina Christmas Mystery Quilt – 8 more to the pile
I finished 8 more Poinsettia Star blocks this morning. That brings the Poinsettia Star block totals to 17. Just 31 more of these blocks to go. I miss counted on the last entry. I actually had completed one more block than expected. About block 12 I had a short scare. I realized that I could… Continue reading Carolina Christmas Mystery Quilt – 8 more to the pile
Haiti…let us help and do what we can.
This isn't going un-noticed. I want to write a post real quick about the situation in Haiti and hope you all will be generous in your philanthropy to organizations that can and will use your funds to help this poor nation and these people. I feel too as though I am in limbo as one… Continue reading Haiti…let us help and do what we can.
Let sleeping dogs lie?
This is how it goes around here. MTD (Mike The Dog) loves his bed but can't figure out how to get his back legs in underneath him so he often will just crash. Normally, he should be going the other way, the longer lenghthwise way. A little bit more comfortable then having your head banged… Continue reading Let sleeping dogs lie?

Day 2 on the Poinsettia Blocks. 4 more made, 40 more to go. I'm still on schedule. Looks like it takes me about an hour to sew and press the pieces together. Still sewing. Still Sewing. Still Sewing.
Carolina Christmas Mystery Quilt – Here comes the second half
The Poinsettia Star Block is up next. Here's the plan. In the next 12 days I need to make 4 blocks every single day to get this quilt topper to the point of borders. My goal is to get this topper finished in January so I can get it quilted in February. Quilting season around… Continue reading Carolina Christmas Mystery Quilt – Here comes the second half
Did you think I could stay away? Nahhhhh….
Did you think I was going to stay away from my sewing room and go out into the alternative? Well, I did put aside the Carolina Christmas Mystery Quilt on Saturday because I was ahead of schedule and wasn't planning on getting rolling on the Poinsettia Blocks until today, but something entirely unexpected happened. I… Continue reading Did you think I could stay away? Nahhhhh….
Carolina Christmas Mystery Quilt – 1/2 Way Baby!
I guess it helps to take a personal snow day. The snow was falling down crazy yesterday morning when I woke up to get ready for work and I just didn't want to tackle another 4-5 hours in the car as I did on Thursday. I just passed my 10 year anniversary at work and… Continue reading Carolina Christmas Mystery Quilt – 1/2 Way Baby!
Carolina Christmas Mystery Quilt – still sewing!
I'm still sewing! I figured out on the calendar, based on how quickly I was sewing, just how long it is going to take to complete the top on this mystery quilt. Like my drawings? I'm giving myself some generous time here but according to plan I should be working on this topper until January… Continue reading Carolina Christmas Mystery Quilt – still sewing!
